NBA Mock Draft 3.0: The New Orleans Pelicans Land the Best Shooter
The Golden State Warriors are in a strange position here, as they have Stephen Curry, Klay Thompson and Draymond Green all returning from injury and have the number one pick in the draft.
If the Warriors can either take the pick and start the foundations for the future, or trade down and pick up an asset, which seems more likely in a draft without a consensus star.
If they do keep the pick, it looks like Anthony Edwards will be the guy.
Edwards is only 18, which makes him a risk, but he already has an NBA frame and has flashed the type of scoring ability that should translate to the next level.
The biggest question mark around Edwards is his shot, as he only shoots 29.4 percent from long-range on 7.7 attempts per game.
Edwards was the focal point of opposing defenses this year and was asked to do a lot for the Georgia Bulldogs, which may have contributed to his sub-par shooting.
But Edwards has athleticism and ability to finish in traffic, which has drawn comparisons to Donovan Mitchell and even Dwyane Wade.
Edwards has the athleticism to be an elite defender but it will take some time, as will his shot.
If the Warriors want to get the guy who will help most now, then it’s likely they just trade down and still get a player they like.
They could go a lot of different ways here, but Edwards makes a lot of sense and there is growing consensus that he is going number one.
