Zion Williamson is only 19 games into his career for the New Orleans Pelicans, but he has a chance to be the best player in the history of the franchise.

Zion Williamson joined the New Orleans Pelicans as the number one pick and rarely has a player come into the league with as much hype.

Zion was compared to everyone from LeBron James to Magic Johnson and even Michael Jordan, which is high praise for a guy who was still too young to buy a beer.

Amazingly, Zion Williamson exceeded the hype and expectations when he finally returned to the New Orleans Pelicans after suffering an early season knee injury.

In his short time in the league, Zion has been amazing, scoring 23.6 points and pulling down 6.8 rebounds a game, often in spectacular fashion.

The 285 lb. sensation captures the imagination of the league every time he takes flight and not since LeBron have we seen a rookie dominate the headlines of the NBA like this.

Hype aside, Zion Williamson wants to get the New Orleans Pelicans to the next level and has already expressed his interest in spending his entire career in the Big Easy.

If Zion Williamson does stay with the New Orleans Pelicans, he has a good chance to go down as the best player in franchise history.

This isn’t a huge feat, as the New Orleans Pelicans don’t have much of a history. They’ve only been a team since 2003 (sort of) so don’t have the decades-long storied history of some other franchises.

They’ve had some great players, a few All-Stars and a whole lot of duds, so Zion Williamson could easily rise to the top of every franchise list if he can just do the following things for the New Orleans Pelicans.
