“History is made by those who show up…”

This famous quote, attributed to UK Prime Minister Benjamin Disraeli, applies to Zion Williamson’s career with the New Orleans Pelicans.

If Zion wants to be the all-time franchise best, he has to “show up,” which means staying healthy. So far, this is not going to plan.

Zion Williamson suffered a knee injury in the pre-season and missed all but 19 games of his rookie season, which may or may not be over already.

Even if the NBA does return to play, Zion missed a huge chunk of his first chance to make a mark on the history of the New Orleans Pelicans.

If he wants to be considered the best of the franchise, he has to stay healthy.

A good example of this is David West, who is the franchise leader with 530 games played over 8 seasons. That may seem like a lot of games, but considering he was eligible for 656, West played in an average of just 66 games per season.

Zion Williamson will have to do a lot better when it comes to being on the floor.

Anthony Davis, who is second in games played, had a similar average and never played a full season for the New Orleans Pelicans.

This shows how big an ability availability is, so if Zion Williamson wants to make history for the New Orleans Pelicans, he has to be available.

Zion returned from injury a bit out of shape and was still favoring his injured knee. He needs to rework himself in the offseason to get slimmer and remove some of the pressure from his joints.

Health is the biggest obstacle to Zion Williamson becoming the greatest Pelican of all time, but there is another.
