New Orleans Pelicans: Ranking Roster from Least to Most Tradeable
The two least tradeable members of the New Orleans Pelicans are…
Derrick Favors: Age 28
Contract: Final Year/$17.6 million
Derrick Favors is still a valuable player for the New Orleans Pelicans, but he is 28-years-old, makes a lot of money and plays a style that is not as valued in today’s NBA.
Favors is by no means the worst player on the roster, but how many teams really want to trade for a guy making nearly $20 million who averages 9.2 points and 9.9 rebounds a game?
Depending on whether you consider Favors a power forward or a center, he is either the 11th highest paid PF in the league or 12th highest paid center.
Take a look at the list. There are guys at the bottom who provide as much production as Favors for half the cost. Favors may be the best interior defender on the New Orleans Pelicans, but few teams would trade for him unless the Pels were taking a horrible contract back.
E’Twaun Moore: Age 31
Contract: Final Year/$8.6 million
E’Twaun Moore is another player that teams other than the New Orleans Pelicans might want to have on their bench, but they’d be unlikely to trade much to get him.
Moore’s production has dipped in nearly every category, most notably 3-point percentage, where he dropped from 43.2 percent last year to 37.5 this year.
That’s still good enough to find Moore work in the league and someone will pick up the veteran in free agency, but no one would trade for him at that salary.
