A fire sale where no one is buying…

Jahlil Okafor: Age 24

Contract: Final Year./$1.7 million

What do you call a back-to-the-basket center with a one-dimensional offensive game who does not protect the rim? Out of work.

Jahlil Okafor‘s age, pedigree and low salary should make him easy to trade, but few teams are looking for post-dominant centers who don’t play defense or space the floor.

Okafor will probably get snagged in free agency by a team looking for bench scoring, but few teams would trade for him, even at that price. Okafor may soon find himself watching games next to Greg Monroe unless he develops a jumper or improves defensively.

Darius Miller: Age 30

Contract: 1 yr./$7 million

The New Orleans Pelicans will have to make a decision on Darius Miller very soon. They have until July 8th to waive him or his contract becomes fully guaranteed.

Miller could potentially fill the 3-and-D role the Pelicans are looking for, but it is doubtful they will want to take a risk at that price. As a wing who can shoot three’s Miller has some value in the league.

But he is coming off a major injury and has yet to show he is back to 100 percent, which drives down his value considerably. The New Orleans Pelicans may decide to pick up Miller’s contract if he is healthy, but they can probably find someone cheaper who is less of a risk.

Either way, few teams would trade for Miller unless the New Orleans Pelicans were taking back damaged goods in exchange.
