New Orleans Pelicans: Ranking Roster from Least to Most Tradeable
Contenders would all be calling…
J.J. Redick: Age 35
Contract: 1yr./$13.01 million
Yes, J.J. Redick is 35-years-old, closer to the age of Zion Williamson‘s mother than Zion himself. Yes, Redick makes over $13 million, which is a lot for a bench player at the tail end of his career.
But Redick still does something better than almost anyone in the world and that is shoot the 3-point shot.
Redick is 4th in the NBA in 3-point percentage and is one of five members of the New Orleans Pelicans who have made more than 110 from long-range this season.
Redick can still knock them down and literally every team in the league is looking for more shooting, so if the Pelicans wanted to move Redick, they could.
In fact, they might need to do it this offseason unless they can get Redick to sign a short extension for far less money. When and if the Pelicans make him available, every contender will be calling.
Jrue Holiday: Age 29
Contract: 2 years/$26.1 and $27.02 million
Jrue Holiay’s combination of age and salary hurt his trade value, but his skill and what he brings to a team more than make up for it.
Even though he is making over $26 million in each of the next two seasons, the New Orleans Pelicans would get plenty of action if they made Holiday available.
Holiday is currently the 11th highest paid point guard in the NBA and the drop-off in talent after him is steep.
Would you rather have Holiday at $27 million or Terry Rozier at $19.8 million? How about Mike Conley at $32 million? Or Ricky Rubio at $16.2 million?
Holiday’s salary is high but point guard is one of the most important positions, he produces on both ends of the floor and is a team leader and good guy.
Trade partners for Holiday wouldn’t be unlimited but there are plenty of teams in need of a point guard who would love to have him.
