The seven most tradeable New Orleans Pelicans are…

Nicolo Melli: Age 29

Contract: 1 yr./$4.09 million

Nicolo Melli is a stretch-four who doesn’t make a ton of money, isn’t on a long-term deal and has proven he has a valuable NBA skill, which is 3-point shooting.

Big guys who can shoot are one of the most valuable commodities in the NBA, and though Melli is a bit long in the tooth for a rookie at 29, his size and 36.1 percent 3-point shooting would have teams calling.

Teams are always trying to find value for money and so far Melli has provided that off the New Orleans Pelicans’ bench. Teams would definitely be interested if Melli were to be made available.

Nickeil Alexander-Walker: Age 21

Contract: 3 yrs./$3.11, $3.26 and $5.0 million

Nickeil Alexander Walker’s combination of age, salary, contract and skill make him one of the most tradeable members of the New Orleans Pelicans.

The only thing keeping NAW from being higher on this list is that he has not played enough to show his value. He’s definitely shown enough to have teams interested, especially considering he is locked up at a team-friendly price for several years.

But $5 million isn’t pennies for an unproven bench player, so any trade partner would be betting that Alexander-Walker would outplay that contract in his 4th season.

If he does, he’d be a huge value, so the New Orleans Pelicans are not likely to trade him unless it is part of a blockbuster deal, but teams would call.
