New Orleans Pelicans: 4 Teams that will Make a Big Leap Next Season
The Golden State Warriors
2019-20 Record: 15-30 (15th seed in West)
Predictions for 2020-21: 58-24 (2nd seed in West)
Why they’ll be better:
The Golden State Warriors are the surest bet to be the most improved team of the 2020-21 season.
After losing Klay Thompson at end of last season, then losing Stephen Curry early in this one, the Warriors never got a chance to defend their Western Conference crown.
Add injuries to Draymond Green and suddenly the Warriors went from one of the best teams in the league to the worst.
The Warriors won an NBA-low 15 games this season, so it’s not difficult to predict they’ll improve.
Not only will they have Curry, Thompson and Green at full strength after a potentially long offseason, but the Warriors are almost guaranteed one of the top picks in the upcoming draft.
The Warriors are tied for the best odds of winning the number one pick, and if they do, it will be similar to when the San Antonio Spurs lost David Robinson to an injury, tanked, got the number one pick, took Tim Duncan and started a dynasty.
The Warriors have a 52.1 percent chance at a top-4 pick, so odds are that they will be adding a talented young rookie to their roster, or possibly some veteran talent if they decide to trade the pick.
It’s easy to imagine the Warriors being one of the top two teams in the West next season, as they will be healthy, adding new talent and hungry to prove that 2019-20 was a fluke.
