Lonzo Ball and brother LiAngelo took a break from hoops to speak out against police brutality in a new song called “Don’t Shoot Me.”

Lonzo Ball is no stranger to the spotlight and lately he’s been using it to bring awareness about police brutality after the senseless killing of George Floyd in Minnesota.

Many of the New Orleans Pelicans have been outspoken about George Floyd as protests have erupted around the world.

It feels like a time when meaningful change is within reach, so it’s important for people like Lonzo Ball to use their platforms to speak out.

The song, which features LiAngelo Ball, was shared by Lonzo on his social media platforms, and has a somber and powerful message.

But words aren’t everything.

Lonzo Ball is backing up his words with action.

Lonzo and his brothers LiAngelo and LaMelo also took part in a peaceful protest in Chino Hills, where they attended high school.

Donning all black and carrying Black Lives Matter signs, the Balls posted their participation in the protest on their Instagram accounts, where they all have millions of followers.

This generation of NBA players have been much more outspoken about racial injustice, which is nice to see, as players have a huge influence over young fans.

While the NBA has one of the most diverse fan bases in professional sports, there are still plenty of people who can benefit from hearing this message, and may not get it from another source.

Fans often like to tell athletes to “stick to sports” but this feels like a turning point in the United States and hardly the time to stay silent.

Even though Lonzo does not feature on the song, it has a powerful message that should resonate with anyone who saw the horrific video of George Floyd’s death.

The NBA has a chance to be a vehicle for social change and it’s time fans stop telling players to “stick to sports,” and instead shut up and listen to what they have to say.
