Zion Williamson never left the New Orleans Pelicans’ practice facility, and according to one source, the results will be obvious.

Unlike some of his New Orleans Pelicans‘ teammates, we haven’t heard much from Zion Williamson during the hiatus.

Part of the reason is that he has been involved in an ugly court battle that finally seems to be winding down.

The other reason is that Zion has been putting in the work.

The rookie sensation was one of a handful of players who were granted access to their team’s practice facility during the lockdown.

Zion has been rehabbing his sore knee and keeping himself in shape, and according to one source, the results are going to show.

According to ESPN, David Griffin said that Zion has been keeping himself in great shape during the hiatus, and another team source said:

"“He’s going to shock some people.”"

A rejuvenated, rested and slimmer Zion Williamson could carry the New Orleans Pelicans to the playoffs.

Williamson took some criticism about his weight when he returned from injury, so it’s logical to surmise that this source was talking about Zion’s physique.

Zion was still favoring his sore knee before the suspension of play, as he was trying to play himself into game shape after missing most of the season.

The hiatus could end up being hugely beneficial to Zion, as he gets an opportunity to get healthy, lose a few pounds, and get himself physically ready for the conclusion of the season in Orlando.

The New Orleans Pelicans will have an uphill battle to make the playoffs, as they will have to stay within four games of Memphis, overtake Portland for the 9th seed and then beat Memphis two times in a row to get there.

It’s not going to be easy, but with the New Orleans Pelicans finally back to full strength and Zion rested and ready to go, I wouldn’t bet against them.
