New Orleans Pelicans: Mock Draft Pick #6

Guard. Scouting Report. Pick Analysis. Detroit Pistons. Anthony Edwards. 6. player. 64

The Detroit Pistons would be gutted if they dropped to the sixth pick, but it could work out for them if they do.

The Pistons need help everywhere and were the lottery team most hurt by the suspension of the season, as they were headed to tank-town and may not have won another game.

Edwards is a guy who has seen his big board status fluctuate, as he is often ranked as high as the first pick, while some mock drafts have him falling out of the top five.

Detroit would love to get a point guard to build around in this draft, but if LaMelo and Hayes are already off the board, they will just go for the best player available, which is Anthony Edwards.

Edwards is only 18, which makes him a risk, but he already has an NBA frame and has flashed the type of scoring ability that should translate to the next level.

The biggest question mark around Edwards is his shot, as he only shoots 29.4 percent from long-range on 7.7 attempts per game.

Edwards was the focal point of opposing defenses this year and was asked to do a lot for the Georgia Bulldogs, which may have contributed to his sub-par shooting.

But Edwards has athleticism and ability to finish in traffic, which has drawn comparisons to Donovan Mitchell and even Dwyane Wade.

The Pistons already missed on Mitchell and Wade once and won’t make the same mistake again.
