The New Orleans Pelicans will be part of the NBA’s re-start in Orlando, but the question is whether the season will actually finish.

As positive coronavirus cases surge in Florida, some members of the New Orleans Pelicans are starting to question if the NBA’s bold experiment is bound to fail.

Brandon Ingram spoke about the issue, and according to NOLA.com, he’s not so sure the NBA’s plan is going to work out.

When asked if he was confident the NBA could finish the season as planned, Ingram said:

"“I’m not that confident about that…New cases are coming up. Different things are happening. I’m not very confident. But they’ve got us going to Orlando on Wednesday, so we’ll see.”"

This hardly sounds like a vote of confidence for the NBA, which has come under some criticism for resuming the season in Florida, a current coronavirus hotspot.

This is especially true after Florida cases surged to the highest one day total with reports that hospitals are nearly out of ICU beds.

The New Orleans Pelicans continue despite positive tests

The New Orleans Pelicans had three players test positive, although it is still unknown if any of them will miss the remainder of the season.

The Pels did sign Sindarius Thornwell for the rest of the season, which may be a sign that one or more of the infected players will not suit up in Orlando.

In addition to the safety of players, staff and Disney employees, some have questioned whether the NBA should be using so many resources when hospitals around the country are still struggling to acquire adequate protective equipment and other medical supplies.

Though Ingram is unsure the season will finish, he was sure of his own commitment and cited his previous injury as motivation, saying:

"“I always go back to me being hurt. It made me want to come out and play basketball all the time. When I got the chance to do it, I was going to go do it and be full force in it. I know my teammates know I’m there 100%, 110%. I’ve got to be there. It wasn’t a question.”"

Brandon Ingram and the New Orleans Pelicans are ready to play, but it doesn’t sound like there is much of a comfort level, nor any confidence of how it will all turn out.

While we are all happy and excited for the NBA’s return, there is still a lot of work to do if the NBA plans to keep everyone safe in Florida.
