New Orleans Pelicans vs. Los Angles Clippers: Instant Reactions, the turnovers.

A Lot of Horrible Turnovers

We’ve been harping about the Pelicans turning the ball over too much and tonight continued the trend.

At one point they had six turnovers in seven minutes, which is efficient work.

The Clippers were even more efficient when the Pelicans did cough it up, turning 18 turnovers into 34 points.

It wasn’t just that the Pelicans were turning the ball over, which you expect from a team that plays so fast, it’s that most of them were just uncontested bad passes and terrible decisions.

At one point Lonzo Ball tried to thread the needle to Derrick Favors under the hoop while he was surrounded by three guys. Even if he caught that pass he wasn’t going to do anything with it.

Jrue Holiday threw one into the virtual stands that wasn’t within ten feet of any of his teammates.

These weren’t just turnovers, they were egregious errors.

The Pelicans still have a chance to redeem themselves and make something out of their bubble time. This is just one game in a wonky season that everyone is trying to cope with, so it’s not like we can read too much into any of this.

It will be a good test to see how this young team bounces back after a beating like this. In the end, it’s just one loss and they still have a chance, but it is getting slimmer.
