Key Statistics in New Orleans Pelicans’ win over Memphis: Fast Break Points

7 for the Grizzlies, 23 for the Pelicans

The Pelicans wanted to get out to a fast start, take care of the ball and force Memphis to work on the offensive end.

One of the keys was to limit the Grizzlies’ fast break points, and force them to work on tired legs in the half court.

The Pelicans were able to do just that, keeping the Grizzlies to just seven fast break points overall, while they were able to run out for 23 of their own.

The Pelicans are at their best when they limit turnovers so they can set their defense, which can be good when everyone is dialed in.

They were able to get back on defense the entire night, and the combination of Jrue Holiday and Lonzo Ball limited the Grizzlies’ penetration and forced them to settle for a lot of three-pointers.

The Pelicans were much more focused on the defensive end and executed the game plan very well for most of the game.

The Grizzlies were struggling to make shots and the Pelicans never let them get momentum with easy fast break buckets.
