New Orleans Pelicans: Player Grades for the centers.

Centers

B. . Center. New Orleans Pelicans. JAXSON HAYES

Jaxson Hayes probably played his most effective ten minutes of the restart. He came in with effort, actually did something to thwart the Spurs at the rim and had a few thunderous dunks, showing what it might be like to have a center who can jump.

Hayes has a lot of work to do, especially at the defensive end, but his effort was a big part of the Pels getting back into the game against San Antonio, and I personally thought he should have been allowed to finish the game.

Hayes is still young and has a lot to learn, but he was a bright spot for about eight minutes in this one, which sadly was the highlight of the game for me.

New Orleans Pelicans. DERRICK FAVORS. D. . Center

It’s time for the Pelicans to move on from Derrick Favors. He has been a step slow in the restart, looks like he is glued to the floor, can’t protect the rim and is absolutely no threat on offense. He just doesn’t fit with this team, who needs someone who can block a shot and do something on defense other than guard the post.

I don’t want to bag on Favors too much, as he has had a rough year and has been a big part of this team’s success, but his heart hasn’t been in this restart and it shows.
