It’s rare to see a young head coach succeed at high levels in the NBA, not many have done it. There are recent developments in the NBA though that suggests that being a young coach might benefit Hardy if he becomes head coach of the New Orleans Pelicans.

In recent history, coaches like Luke Walton and Ryan Saunders have shown that at a young age they can have some success in the NBA. Looking back a little bit further Erik Spoelstra had great success entering the NBA as a younger head coach.

It all comes down to the fit with the roster mainly, and a younger coach coaching a younger roster can have some benefits. On the New Orleans Pelicans, Hardy could be looked to as a peer at times and with his age, he can even up the energy levels in practice by stepping out onto the court.

The New Orleans Pelicans are looking leadership and that can come in many ways. Being young might make him less intimidating to the New Orleans Pelicans younger stars and the bond they could for by being closer in age could cause the team to want to play for him.
