New Orleans Pelicans Candidate #8- Sam Cassell, Los Angeles Clippers (Assistant)

Sam Cassell had an amazing career as a steady point guard in the NBA, and now he’s developing as a potentially even better coach under Doc Rivers in Los Angeles. If the New Orleans Pelicans are looking to give a former player a chance, Cassell could be on their shortlist.

With a history of developing young guards and multiple years working under one of the NBA’s top coaching minds, Cassell is starting to get a lot of attention. The New Orleans Pelicans should be drawn to his potential especially after seeing his work with last year’s youthful Clippers team.

New Orleans Pelicans Candidate #7- Dan Craig, Miami Heat (Assistant)

This pick might be a bit controversial because Craig has been a name that has received almost no talk in speculation so far. That doesn’t mean his qualifications aren’t good enough to lead the New Orleans Pelicans.

Craig is assistant for the Miami Heat, a team that is coached by one of the best defensive minds in the league in Erik Spoelstra, features one of the NBA’s best offenses this season and puts a lot of focus on player development.

Once the head coach of Miami’s G-League team, Craig was instrumental in the Heat getting the most out of their young players this season which is something that the New Orleans organization should like.
