Alec Burks could provide scoring punch off the bench for the New Orleans Pelicans

Alec Burks, Shooting Guard- Philadelphia 76ers

This is the series with the fewest number of interesting free agents, unless you are into undersized point guards and bigs who can’t shoot.

Boston pretty much has their entire team locked up for the next decade and have only 31-year-old Brad Wanamaker heading into free agency, pass.

That leaves shooting guard Alec Burks, who doesn’t necessarily fill a need for the Pelicans, but could depending on how the roster shakes out.

Currently the New Orleans Pelicans have too many guards and not enough forwards, but Burks is a guy who can play multiple positions and has the size to defend both wings and shooting guards.

He is like Josh Hart in many ways, which may make him redundant, but that’s ok given that Hart may leave in free agency after next season.

Burks plays good defense and can knock down open shots, something they didn’t get out of their backup guards this season. Burks has hit 38.5% of his 3-point shots this year and averages 15 points per game.

Most importantly, Burks will probably come cheap, as he is making just over $2.3 million this season and is not likely to get a huge offer from anyone.

Burks would add nice scoring punch off the bench, can defend multiple positions and would be a big upgrade on the wing for the New Orleans Pelicans.
