The New Orleans Pelicans could add the stretch-big they need with Patrick Patterson

Pattrick Patterson, Foward- Los Angeles Clippers

This series had a lot of options for veteran players that could spark some interest for the New Orleans Pelicans. There was Courtney Lee who could be an excellent albeit unreliable bench shooter, and a strong two-way wing in JaMychal Green who would be great if he didn’t have a player option.

The two players it came down to though were Los Angeles Clippers forwards Marcus Morris and Patrick Patterson. I ultimately went with Patterson because as someone who lived in the Boston area the last thing that a team of young stars needs is the Marcus Morris experience.

In Patrick Patterson, the New Orleans Pelicans would get the stereotypical good veteran player that would come in and play his role. That’s exactly what this team needs, especially with the role that Patterson could offer them.

Patterson would give the New Orleans Pelicans some much-needed depth on the wing behind Brandon Ingram and Zion Williamson, which would include strong defense and a reliable three-point shot.

Add him in to run a pick-and-pop with Lonzo Ball, or have him as a floor stretching five next Williamson, either way, Patterson would give the Pelicans a tough shooting option who will also hold his own on the defensive end of the floor.
