The New Orleans Pelicans already have plenty of youth.

The Pelicans Have Too Much Youth Already

If you look at the New Orleans Pelicans’ roster you’ll find that most of their best players are 22-years-old or younger.

Zion and Jaxson Hayes are 20. Lonzo Ball, Brandon Ingram and Frank Jackson are all 22 and Nickeil Alexander-Walker is just 21. Jahlil Okafor and Josh Hart seem like veterans and they are just 24 and 25, respectively.

Derrick Favors is likely to leave along with E’Twaun Moore and Kenrich Williams, which leaves the Pelicans with Jrue Holiday and J.J. Redick as the only real veterans.

The last thing the Pelicans need is another 19-year-old who doesn’t know how to play the game.

The Pels make so many boneheaded mistakes already, and don’t need any more players who are sloppy with the ball or who can’t play defense.

This seems like the perfect draft to take a year off, grab an asset and take the pick next year or the year after, when there will be more known talent.

The Pelicans also have a chest full of draft picks already and not all of them are going to be conveyed into roster additions, as there aren’t enough spots. Eventually the Pelicans will have to trade some of them away, so why not do so in a weak draft?

With so many young players already on the roster, the Pelicans should consider going the other way and adding some grown adults to this team.
