2020 NBA Mock Draft: Washington Wizards

Small Forward / Auburn. player. 142. Washington Wizards. Isaac Okoro. 9. Scouting Report. Pick Analysis

From here on out the NBA Draft Lottery went to scratch, so the Wizards stayed in their draft spot and will choose 9th overall.

The Washington Wizards are in one of the toughest salary cap situations in the league and their pick will likely have a lot of “ifs” attached to it.

If the Wizards expect John Wall to come back healthy then they have a solid foundation with him and Bradley Beal in the backcourt and Rui Hachimura at power forward.

If the Wizards think Wall may not make it back to 100 percent then they could easily trade Beal (maybe to a team like the New Orleans Pelicans) for a treasure trove of assets that they can use to start a rebuild.

If the Wizards stay the course Isaac Okoro makes a lot of sense, as they lack talent and defense at the wing.

Okoro may not have much offensively, but could end up being the best perimeter player in this draft, as he has the size, quickness and athleticism to defend multiple positions.

He is also a smart player and a good passer, who is adept at running the pick-and-roll, which could be a force with the Wizards’ guards.

The Wizards are an interesting team, as they have some pieces, and if everyone comes back healthy, they could be right in the thick of the Eastern Conference, especially with Okoro on the wing.
