New Orleans Pelicans Shooting Target #1- Aaron Nesmith

Aaron Nesmith, Wing- Vanderbilt

If the New Orleans Pelicans want to draft the best pure shooter in the draft, then Aaron Nesmith should be the team’s target at pick number 13.

Holding an insane 52% three-point shooting percentage for his two-year career at Vanderbilt, Nesmith showed that he can nail a three-point shot in several ways.

Whether it be running off screens for catch-and-shoot looks or pulling up whenever he has space, Nesmith is just a deadly marksman.

To top it off though, Nesmith could also serve as the ideal player to come in and play strong defense at the wing position, something that the team lacked for much of this season.

With his efficiency and plug-and-play defensive ability, Nesmith should hold the top spot for shooters on the New Orleans Pelicans’ draft board.

New Orleans Pelicans Shooting Target #2- Devin Vassell

Devin Vassell, Wing- Florida State

Coming in as the 1B to Nesmith’s 1A Devin Vassell would also be another ideal wing shooter for the Pelicans to target in this year’s draft.

Vassell stands an inch taller than Nesmith and has much better abilities on the defensive end of the floor, but isn’t the same consistent threat from deep that Nesmith is. Vassell’s game is a little bit more diverse.

For Devin Vassell, he’s best when he’s constantly in motion so he will either take catch-and-shoot threes or move in the team’s offense as a cutter. That is a little bit different than Nesmith who will be a shooter from anywhere on the court.

Thanks to also being a wing with strong defensive ability though, the New Orleans Pelicans should be seriously considering Devin Vassell if he’s available at pick 13 to be a two-way wing for the team.
