New Orleans Pelicans Shooting Target #5- Ty-Shon Alexander

Ty-Shon Alexander, Guard- Creighton

Ending our list is one of my favorite players in this year’s draft and another potential second-round steal for the New Orleans Pelicans, Creighton’s Ty-Shon Alexander. He’s the typical upper-classmen player who falls in the draft because he lacks upside and ends up playing 13 quality NBA seasons as a role player on contending teams.

More importantly, Alexander is a great shooter who hit 40% of threes across three seasons at Creighton. He could also play a few different roles if ends up down in New Orleans.

Alexander could fill in as the J.J. Redick type of player in moments with the team’s starting unit, but then he could play as a leading scorer on the Pelicans second unit too.

With his playmaking ability thrown into the mix, Alexander can even be the back-up point guard that the Pelicans need behind Lonzo Ball. With that would come a dangerous pick-and-roll game with Zion Williamson where Alexander could hit open threes when the defense packs the paint to stop Williamson from bulldozing through the lane.

The 2020 NBA draft might not give the New Orleans Pelicans another superstar player to add to their impressive core but it could give the team the ability to add several high-quality shooters to fill out the rest of their roster.
