What The New Orleans Pelicans Should Do With Pick #39: Select A Stretch Big

The next item the New Orleans Pelicans should target would be a stretch-big. Using their first second-round pick on that need would be an ideal spot to do so.

Right now, the assessment for this year’s draft is that it is strong on guards and wing players while weak on big-men. That means a lot of the big men in this draft are bound to slip to the start of the second round.

If the New Orleans Pelicans play their cards right then they could potentially find a diamond in the rough with their first second-round pick.

Recently, we wrote about a variety of big men in this draft who could fit the stretch mold that the New Orleans Pelicans are looking for, and some of those players are currently projected to be second-round prospects.

Adding a stretch big to a wing player selected in the first round would give the New Orleans Pelicans an excellent draft grade in my book as they would be solidifying their depth in the frontcourt to contend next season.

When adding a legit floor stretching big man to this roster, the offensive possibilities would be endless as driving lanes would open up much more the team’s young stars.
