The New Orleans Pelicans could trade Jrue Holiday back to Philadelphia.

The Philly Trade

Another team the New Orleans Pelicans could potentially try to target is Philly, who may be looking to shake things up after another disappointing season.

“The Process” hasn’t worked so far, which has been pretty sweet to watch if you are against tanking, as Philly has shown that being bad on purpose doesn’t necessarily translate to playoff wins.

Like Indiana, Philly is about to get swept in the first round and may want to change the outlook of their roster heading into next season. Talk has been that they will trade one of Ben Simmons or Joel Embiid, but that seems unlikely given their ages and talent level.

Here is a trade that would shake up both rosters and possibly get both teams in contention.

This one would remake both teams, adding interior defense, and a young wing defender to the Pelicans, while adding another scorer, shooter and a lottery pick to the 76ers.

Someone is going to take the fall for Philly’s failure and Horford seems like the candidate since he never fit in to begin with. He is the type of smart team defender and passer that would fit well along Zion Williamson.

But Horford is getting old and looked cooked in the bubble, so the Sixers would have to sweeten the pot by adding Matisse Thybulle, who has the potential to be a lock down defender on the wing, exactly what the Pelicans need.

The Pels would clear up some future money but would also be taking on that massive Horford contract, so the Sixers may have to throw in another future pick to make it work.

Neither of these trades are ideal, but if the New Orleans Pelicans want to change the landscape of their roster, they will have to take some chances.
