New Orleans Pelicans: 3-and-D free agent options

The Pelicans need more depth on the wing, as they currently only have Brandon Ingram who can’t defend and Josh Hart, who is more of a shooting guard than a wing.

Here are some guys who can provide depth at the position, defend it and knock down some long-range shots along the way.

Wesley Matthews- Milwaukee Bucks

Wesley Matthews is a veteran wing/shooting guard who can still defend his position and knock down 3-point shots. Matthews is 33 and certainly not the same player that he was for Portland and Dallas, but he’s still got something in the tank and has played well for the Bucks off their bench.

His 3-point shooting has dipped to 36.4%, but he is a professional shooter, can defend and will probably be cheap.

Justin Holiday- Indiana Pacers

Ok, so the Pacers aren’t technically still in the bubble after recently being swept by Miami. Justin Holiday, like his brother Jrue, is a long shooting guard who can defend multiple positions. He averages more than a steal a game and shoots over 40% from 3-point range.

He would immediately improve the Pels’ bench defense and it would be cool to have two Holidays.

JaMychal Green- Los Angeles Clippers

JaMychal Green doesn’t get mentioned a lot as part of the Clippers’ amazing bench, but he is a power forward who can defend the wing and knock down 3-pointers.

He shoots 38.7% from long-range and has the size to bang down low with power forwards or step out and guard the perimeter. He’s hit some big shots in the bubble for the Clippers, knows his role and is a professional defender.
