New Orleans Pelicans Back-Up Point Guard Target #2- Devon Dotson, Kansas

Another point guard who enters the NBA draft after leading one of the top programs in the country, Devon Dotson could be the ideal energizer off the bench for the New Orleans Pelicans.

Where Cassius Winston’s game was all about being smooth and steady, Devon Dotson’s is all about speed and attack. Dotson builds his game by driving off of pick-and-rolls and attacking the paint and he has some of the best top-end speed in the draft to do it.

When it comes to making plays, his main method of playmaking is gravity. Dotson likes to get defenders to gravitate towards him on drives so he can then dish out to the open man. He’s also a guard who likes to defend, he takes pride in getting into opposing players’ jerseys and making them work for each opportunity. His high motor is one of the best in the entire draft.

There are questions about his three-point shot and whether his playstyle will work in the NBA, but the talent is too much for the New Orleans Pelicans to pass on. If the team can reel Devon Dotson in a little bit, they could be adding a lethal scoring guard to their bench.
