2020 NBA Mock Draft with Trades: #11- San Antonio Spurs

The Spurs would be very tempted to take a shooter here, but Okoro’s talent is too much to pass up.

Okoro very well could end up being the best perimeter defender in this draft, can guard multiple positions and fits in well with the Spurs overall franchise philosophy.

The Spurs were in the bottom half of the league in 3-point shooting, but they really don’t shoot that many and were still very close to making the playoffs.

Okoro would improve their 29th ranked defense, is ready to play now and has the kind of selflessness and intensity that the Spurs look for.

If the Spurs can improve their defense, they will be right back in the playoff mix next season. They could also go with someone like Aaron Nesmith, but Popovich was likely not very happy being at the bottom of the league in defense and will look to find shooting elsewhere.
