New Orleans Pelicans: Lonzo Ball could win Most Improved Player

Most Improved Player- Lonzo Ball

Lonzo Ball has a world of talent and had a pretty good season.

However, what most people are going to remember is that he was terrible in the bubble and was a big part of why the Pelicans faltered.

Lonzo won’t forget this either, and will head into the offseason with a huge chip on his shoulder that he should use to motivate him to improve.

We wrote that Lonzo Ball would be the most improved player next season, and he should be plenty motivated after his bubble performance.

Lonzo’s shooting improved markedly this season, but what he really needs to improve are his free throws, turnovers and finishing at the rim. Lonzo misses a ton of bunnies and layups, which is a big problem considering he has the size to post smaller players and bully his way to the rim.

Lonzo also shot a Shaq-like 56.6% from the line, which is unacceptable for a point guard who has the ball in his hands so much. Lonzo also needs to cut down on the turnovers, as he has at least one or two horrible ones per game where it looked like he lost focus or wasn’t paying attention.

Improve in these three areas and he’ll have a good shot of giving the New Orleans Pelicans back-to-back winners in this category.
