New Orleans Pelicans: Didi Louzada could be a dark horse for Rookie of the Year

Rookie of the Year: Didi Louzada

Louzada was the 35th pick in the 2019 draft and spent all of last season stashed overseas.

A lot of people have not even seen Louzada play, but he has some intriguing potential, and if things break right, he will be in the discussion for Rookie of the Year.

There is no consensus on who the top-five incoming rookies are, and this draft is considered weak, so it could be a year when a foreign born player takes home the award.

Louzada has flashed elite quickness for his size, the ability to defend multiple positions and a surprisingly smooth shooting stroke.

His per-36 numbers compare favorably to guys like LaMelo Ball and R.J. Hampton, who also played professionally overseas last season.

Could Louzada have a break out season as the Pelicans’ backup combo guard?

With all the craziness of this offseason, it wouldn’t be surprising if the best rookie is a guy who was not in the draft and who most people have not heard of.
