New Orleans Pelicans’ Player Comparisons: Brandon Ingram

Brandon Ingram is the next… Kevin Durant

Ok, I’ve made this comparison before but it really is the most accurate one.

If you look at Durant’s age-22 numbers vs. Ingram’s they are very similar and one could argue that Ingram is actually better overall.

The biggest different is obviously height, as Durant is three inches taller and has the wingspan of a 747, which makes him almost impossible to stop.

Ingram isn’t quite as long, but still has a massive wingspan that allows him to shoot over just about anyone in the league.

Both can shoot the 3-pointer but Ingram is actually a better 3-point shooter than Durant was at the same age (it’s true, look it up).

What is really most similar about the two is their ability to score from just about anywhere, as they both have a deadly mid-range game and can get their own shot whenever they want.

Durant has rounded into a great defender, but he wasn’t there at age 22 and neither is Ingram. Durant is also a better rebounder, but Ingram is a better passer.

Ingram still has a ways to go to be the scorer that Durant is, but it’s not hard to imagine B.I. winning multiple scoring titles at some point in his career.

Ingram is about to get a max contract extension and the Pelicans hope they are signing one of the cornerstones to a championship team.
