New Orleans Pelicans Candidate #10- Nate McMillan, Indiana Pacers (Recently Fired)

Nate McMillan is someone we just covered in the last couple of weeks. He’s a candidate that I believe isn’t the right man for the New Orleans Pelicans job but a lot of other writers and Pelicans fans do.

I can understand why though, Nate McMillan has some strong points on his coaching resume that stand out. Through his time with the Seattle Supersonics, Portland Trail Blazers, and recently with the Indiana Pacers, Nate McMillan has proven that he develop young talent.

Add in McMillan’s strong defensive schemes from his time in Indiana with a history of some efficient offenses in past coaching stops, he’s a candidate that can take the New Orleans Pelicans to the next tier. I question if he could take the Pelicans to championship contention though.

New Orleans Pelicans Candidate #9- Dave Joerger, Memphis Grizzlies (2013-2016) Sacramento Kings (2016-2019)

After a year away from coaching it might be time for the New Orleans Pelicans to give Dave Joerger a call. He’s a coach we covered just yesterday and he’s someone who’s resume I think is strong.

A history of crafting one of the toughest defenses in recent NBA history as well as a recent shift to a fast-pace offense are the two biggest things I see in Dave Joerger. He’s a candidate who is a retread but is someone I believe didn’t deserve firing in either of his previous stops.

The question for Dave Joerger will be if he wants to still coach and if he can mesh with the New Orleans Pelicans’ front office and roster.
