New Orleans Pelicans Coaching Candidate #8- Dan Craig, Miami Heat (Assistant)

Dan Craig came in one slot higher on our list last time but with the coverage of more coaches, he’s moved down just a spot. Craig’s resume still speaks for itself though.

Craig is assistant for the Miami Heat, a team that is coached by one of the best defensive minds in the league in Erik Spoelstra, features one of the NBA’s best offenses this season, and puts a lot of focus on player development.

Once the head coach of Miami’s G-League team, Craig was instrumental in the Heat getting the most out of their young players this season which is something that the New Orleans organization should like. If the Miami Heat continues to make a big playoff run, Craig will receive some credit for it and that could bring the Pelicans calling.

New Orleans Pelicans Coaching Candidate #7- Wes Unseld Jr., Denver Nuggets (Assistant)

Another new name on this list, Wes Unseld Jr. son of NBA Hall-of-Famer Wes Unseld and assistant coach for the Denver Nuggets has come onto our radar.

Right now, Unseld Jr. works for one of the most progressive teams in the NBA in the Denver Nuggets. The Nuggets like try all different types of schemes on both sides of the ball and Wes Unseld Jr. is a big part of that process on defense.

Wes Unseld Jr. is already getting a lot of talk as one of the best young minds in the NBA ranks right now and if the New Orleans Pelicans want to pluck a head coach from an organization who just a  built a contender completely organically then he’s their guy.

The only problem is that the New Orleans Pelicans will have to compete with the Chicago Bulls now run by former Nuggets executive Arturas Karnisovas to get him.
