New Orleans Pelicans: 4 Former 1st Round Picks to Pursue in Free Agency
By Nick Alvarez
The Stretch-Big the New Orleans Pelicans are looking for
Dario Saric- Phoniex Suns
This last name might not be considered a reclamation project to some and he’s performed admirably as a rotation stretch-big in the NBA but I think there’s still more to Dario Saric’s game for the New Orleans Pelicans to unlock.
At 6’10” with a sweet 36 percent shooting stroke from distance, Dario Saric has often been relegated to a shooter on the wing but there’s more to his game than just that.
Coming out of the draft, Saric flashed a passing ability that made me see him akin to Boris Diaw on the San Antonio Spurs. He hasn’t been asked to use that skill in the NBA but with the New Orleans Pelicans, he can use it to be the ultimate rotation big.
Toss Saric up with the starting unit and he can be the sharpshooting big man the team needs, but through him in with the second unit and watch how he versatile he be out of pick-and-roll actions as a playmaker on the elbows.
There’s more to Saric’s game then most people think so the New Orleans Pelicans should be looking at him closely.
These players aren’t the final missing ingredients championship contention, and will never reach the ceilings that NBA Draft evaluators thought they would when they were first-round picks but with the New Orleans Pelicans, any one of these players can be a valuable role player.
