New Orleans Pelicans Draft: 5 International Prospects for the 2nd Round
New Orleans Pelicans International Prospects: Yam Madar
Yam Madar- Hapoel Tel Aviv
I hope this guy makes the NBA because I love his name and love watching him play.
Madar is a super quick, 6-foot-3 point guard who doesn’t have a great shot. This doesn’t sound like the recipe for an NBA player, but Madar makes up for his lack of size and athleticism with relentless play and a high I.Q.
He has great ball handling skills and a quick first step that allows him to get into the lane and collapse defenses. He has the smarts to make the right pass and if he pans out, would be ideal for running a second unit offense.
Madar is as crafty as they get, and is often called the Stephen Curry (HA!!!) of the European League, which is a stretch to say the least, but gives you an idea of the kind of ball handling and passing skills this kid has.
He shined in the Under-20 Euro Championship, and showed that he could be an intense defender, even at his size, as he is great at using his quick feet to stay in front of people and create pressure on the ball.
He’s the type of guy who could be a lighting-in-a-bottle type off the bench and will be fun to watch if he makes it to the NBA.
