New Orleans Pelicans International Prospects: Abdoulaye N’Doye

Abdoulaye N’Doye- Cholet

N’Doye doesn’t really fit any one category as a potential NBA player.

He’s not a 3-and-D wing, as his shot isn’t great. He’s not a lockdown defender (yet), or a guy who is going to grab a ton of rebounds, but he can do a little of everything.

N’Doye’s top skill is his ball handling, and at 6-foot-7, he has the ability to create off the dribble, especially in the pick-and-roll and he is adept at finishing around the rim.

The problem is that this is difficult to in the NBA when the guys in the lane are all 7-foot shot blockers. N’Doye relies on the mid-range game and an array of floaters, shots that are not considered high efficiency in the NBA.

People said the same of guys like DeMar DeRozan though, and some team is going to take a chance on N’Doye’s unique combination of size and ball handling.

If he can develop a 3-point shot, he’ll have a place in the NBA, as he has the quickness and athleticism to get buckets on the offensive end and be a quality one-on-one defender on the other.
