One oddsmaker thinks the New Orleans Pelicans could be Giannis’ next team.

The New Orleans Pelicans might have the best combination of young talent, useful veterans and draft assets in the NBA, which is why they are going to be involved in most of the rumors.

Add that they are looking for a new coach, and the speculation around New Orleans this offseason will probably get a little silly.

I was called silly many times for suggesting the Pelicans could push all of their chips in to land Giannis Antetokounmpo.

I’m not sure which team’s fans hated me more, as I was called a fool for suggesting the Pelicans would trade Zion Williamson and an even bigger fool for suggesting he was enough to get the league’s MVP.

Well, one betting site agrees that there might be some amount of truth to the fantasy trade involving two of the league’s most popular players.

New Orleans Pelicans: Bettors like the Pels as a landing spot for Giannis.

According to Sportsbetting.ag, the Pelicans have the third highest odds to land Giannis Antetokounmpo if he is traded from Milwaukee.

The Miami Heat have the best odds at +300, while the Toronto Raptors were second with +400 odds to land Giannis.

The New Orleans Pelicans were third at +500.  Before people get too excited/angry about what these mean, +300 means the Heat have 3 to 1 odds not to get Giannis. In other words, it is unlikely to happen.

However, with the Bucks being knocked out in the second round and Giannis having only one year on his contract, there is certainly reason for the Bucks to be concerned about where the MVP is going to get his next contract.

If Giannis decides to go to unrestricted free agency, every team in the league will be trying to clear cap space to make a run at him. The Bucks will at least have to listen to some offers if they feel they are at risk of losing Giannis for nothing.

The Pelicans certainly have the assets to be involved in a trade, but may decide one year of Giannis is not worth the risk. Either way it is going to be a wild offseason for the Bucks and The Greek Freak.
