New Orleans Pelicans: Didi Louzada compares to Shaun Livingston

Shaun Livingston

You might think of 33-year-old Shaun Livingston from a few years ago, when he was slow and was mostly playing off the ball, and think there are no comparisons to the lighting-quick Louzada.

But if you remember the young Livingston before his knee injury, there were a lot of similarities.

Livingston entered the NBA as a tall, quick point guard who could get to the hoop and finish. He couldn’t shoot much (and never really developed a 3-point shot) but he had a nice mid-range game, lots of floaters and knew how to finish at the rim.

When you see Louzada using his quickness and big body to get the shots he wants, it is very reminiscent of Livingston.

Here you see Louzada use his quickness to get the defender backpedaling, then he pulls up for the mid-range jumper.

Look familiar? Here is Shaun Livingston doing the same thing, as both have the size and length to be dominant in the mid-range.

Livingston probably never lived up to his massive potential after wrecking his knee, but he won titles with the Warriors and was a key part of their dynasty.

Livingston could defend bigger guys, run the offense and score when the Warriors needed a bucket.

Louzada is quicker than Livingston but has similar size and could end up being a mid-range, lighting in a bottle scorer for the Pels the way Livingston was for the Warriors.
