New Orleans Pelicans: Didi Louzada compares to Spencer Dinwiddie

Spencer Dinwiddie

Dinwiddie was another tall point guard who came into the league with a below-average 3-point shot, which is probably why the Pistons foolishly gave up on him way too early.

Dinwiddie still can’t shoot from long-range but has evolved into a scoring backup point guard and an All-Star without shooting many three’s.

Dinwiddie uses his length and big body to get into the lane, where he can finish or set up teammates. Didi has a similar game, as he can use his size to get into the lane and finish, often through contact.

Dinwiddie has a similar game, breaking down defenders with his quickness and then using his size to finish. Who needs to shoot 3-pointers when you can do this?

Dinwiddie has turned himself into a top scorer without the benefit of shooting 3-pointers, which is what Louzada could do if his shot never gets much better.

Dinwiddie can hit three’s in bursts, same as Louzada, but relies more on his size and quickness to get points.

The New Orleans Pelicans may have something special in Didi Louzada, and if things break right he could be the tall, backup point guard the Pelicans need.
