New Orleans Pelicans: Free Agent Defenders to Target

Gary Clark

I am an unabashed Gary Clark fan.

Not only does his name pop up all over the hustle stats, but he played well in the bubble and should come very cheap.

I wrote about him as a potential free agent target here, so I won’t get too deep into him, but he has more shots contested than Kawhi, more loose balls recovered than Fred VanVleet, more screen assists than Steven Adams and more charges taken than Montrezl Harrell.

He made just over $500,000 this season and should probably get a raise, but he will still be a value contract and is another switchable defender who could make the Pelicans’ defense a lot more versatile.

What is most intriguing about Clark is that he could potentially back up both forward positions, which the Pelicans definitely need.

He’s the type of player who has had to grind for everything he has, which is what the Pelicans need.

Clark could be the kind of low cost hustle player that wins a few games for the Pelicans without ever denting the score sheet.
