The New Orleans Pelicans need sharp three-point shooting to make waves in a 2021 bubble

Concern #2- 3 Point Shooting

If the New Orleans Pelicans are going to be playing in another bubble, they’ll need to sharpen their three-point shooting. If one thing is clear when watching the 2020 NBA playoffs, it’s that the best shooting team wins.

This is an interesting situation that NBA Insiders have recently been reporting. Some reports suggest that teams playing in the same courts for every game with no glaring distractions is improving outside shooting.

Regardless, the numbers have become shocking, living up to the NBA catchphrase “it’s a make or miss league”. 3 point attempts are skyrocketing to new highs and the box scores are continually indicating that the better three-point shooting team wins in the bubble.

This means that the New Orleans Pelicans better be sharp from distance if they want to want to win.  The reason why this becomes so concerning is that I believe this metric affects how the team approaches this offseason.

If the season is going to be in a bubble, maybe the team keeps sharpshooter J.J. Redick instead of trading him, while looking to unload streaky shooters like Jrue Holiday. Regardless winning is about the 3 ball so the Pelicans need to get with the program.
