Be the GM: New Orleans Pelicans select Patrick Williams with the 13th pick

Patrick Williams

This is the move you make if you want that 3-and-D prospect but want a higher ceiling than Saddiq Bey.

Though teammate Devin Vassell has gotten most of the attention, Patrick Williams might actually end up being the better player, as he has size and profiles as a potentially elite defender at multiple spots.

Here is your rotation with Williams:

PG: Lonzo Ball

SG: Jrue Holiday/J.J. Redick

SF: Brandon Ingram/Josh Hart

PF: Zion Williamson/Patrick Williams/Nicolo Melli

C: Jaxson Hayes/Free Agent Center

Adding a big combo forward like Williams would make the Pelicans more versatile defensively and would allow Zion to play some time as a small-ball center, which may be his destiny.

This is a pick made on potential, as Williams is one of the youngest players in the draft.

You now have a defensive specialist to pair with Zion and BI, which is a smart move going forward.
