Be the GM: The New Orleans Pelicans take Onyeka Okongwu in NBA Draft

Drafting Onyeka Okongwu

Okongwu is a guy who has been rocketing up draft boards as of late.

He is a 6-foot-9 power forward, who profiles as a guy who could also defend centers.

With the emergence of Bam Adebayo in the playoffs, teams are going to be looking for long combo forwards who can defend multiple positions and block shots.

Okongwu is a great rim protector who has active hands and would be a good fit in a lot of lineups for the Pelicans. Here is your rotation with Okongwu:

PG: Lonzo Ball

SG: Josh Hart/ J.J. Redick

SF: Brandon Ingram/Otto Porter Jr.

PF: Zion Williamson/Nicolo Melli

C: Onyeka Okongwu/Jaxson Hayes

This is a lineup that would be very versatile, switchable and fast. You’d have four young players to build around who are all on the same timeline. This team would be fun to watch, very athletic and bigger than it is now.
