Be the GM: A Trade with Cleveland Cavaliers for the #5 Pick

Drafting Onyeka Okongwu

Okongwu is a guy who has been rocketing up draft boards as of late.

He is a 6-foot-9 power forward, who profiles as a guy who could also defend centers.

With the emergence of Bam Adebayo in the playoffs, teams are going to be looking for long combo forwards who can defend multiple positions and block shots.

Okongwu is a great rim protector who has active hands and would be a good fit in a lot of lineups for the Pelicans. He could also potentially cover some of the defensive deficiencies of Kevin Love.

Here is your rotation with Okongwu:

PG: Lonzo Ball

SG: Josh Hart/ J.J. Redick

SF: Brandon Ingram

PF: Zion Williamson/Nicolo Melli

C: Kevin Love/Onyeka Okongwu/Jaxson Hayes

This is a lineup that would be very versatile, switchable and fast. You’d have four young players to build around who are all on the same timeline but still have some veteran presence. This team would be fun to watch and potentially lethal on offense with Kevin Love spreading the floor.

It would be a risky move that would change both teams dramatically, but if the Pelicans could pull this off they’d have to at least consider it. This team could win now and also in the future.
