New Orleans Pelicans: Choosing Obi Toppin in the NBA Draft

Drafting Obi Toppin

This would be an interesting choice, as he’s not often talked about as someone who would fit on the Pelicans, but Toppin would be a nice addition.

This team would be very athletic but would lack interior defense, which could be a big problem. If you are counting on Kevin Love to defend centers, then you had better have wings who can defend.

Toppin profiles as a guy who can do just that. He is a 3-and-D guy who can also make plays and run the floor. He’s also one of the guys who is ready to play now, so this is the move you make if you want to go all-in.

PG: Lonzo Ball

SG: Josh Hart/ J.J. Redick

SF: Brandon Ingram/Obi Toppin

PF: Zion Williamson/Nicolo Melli

C: Kevin Love/Jaxson Hayes

This is a rotation with a lot of options, as Toppin is a fit with just about any of them. He is very versatile and could work in a number of ways for the Pelicans.

This team would be potentially elite offensively but would it be enough to make up for their woeful defense? You took some chances on this one.
