Be the GM: New Orleans Pelicans trade with Atlanta Hawks for #6 pick in the NBA Draft

Trading for the #6 Pick

Congrats! You have just traded the face of your franchise and biggest contract for a young shooter, your new starting center and the sixth pick.

You do this trade if you want to give the Pelicans some cap flexibility moving forward, as they’d be saving money and getting a decent package in return.

Dedmon and Huerter would both step into the rotation and you’d still have two draft picks to work with in possible trades or to take players you like. Dedmon also allows Jaxson Hayes to play as the backup, where he can better learn the game while still getting minutes.

This would make the New Orleans Pelicans very young, but also deeper and probably worse defensively depending on who you select with the #6 pick.

This would be a bold trade that drastically changes the team but possibly makes them much better for the long run.
