Be the GM: The New Orleans Pelicans trade for the #1 pick?

Trading for the #1 Pick

Congratulations! You have traded your franchise leader Jrue Holiday for a package based around the number one pick.

This move probably sets the Pelicans’ timeline back a bit, as they aren’t getting any players to replace Holiday’s production and would potentially end up a lot younger.

This is the move you make if you want to build around the Pelicans’ young core and don’t feel Holiday is a part of it.

The Pelicans would also get some interesting pieces, as James Johnson is a big expiring contract, Omari Spellman fills a need at forward and Jake Layman is a serviceable wing.

The Pelicans could likely flip James Johnson to a team looking to shed some payroll, so this one could have even more benefits down the road.

The question is, who are you going to select with that #1 pick in the NBA Draft?

There is no consensus star, so we will give you three options to choose from.

If you want to choose LaMelo Ball, click here.

If you want to take Anthony Edwards, click here.

If you want to pick James Wiseman, click here.
