New Orleans Pelicans select Precious Achiuwa in the NBA Draft.

Drafting Precious Achiuwa

This is a guy who has been moving up draft boards, especially as teams watch the play of Bam Adebayo, who is showing the value of long forwards who can defend multiple spots.

Achiuwa didn’t get as much attention as Wiseman on Memphis, but he may end up being the better player, though his ceiling is not nearly as high.

Achiuwa is not going to spread the floor or shoot much, but he is a high energy guy who rebounds, can defend and block shots all over the floor and fits well with what the Pelicans already have.

PG: Lonzo Ball/Bruce Brown

SG: Jrue Holiday/Josh Hart/J.J. Redick

SF: Brandon Ingram

PF: Zion Williamson/Precious Achiuwa/Nicolo Melli

C: Jaxson Hayes/Free Agent

Achiuwa would potentially allow the Pelicans to go small and still be able to defend. They would be long, athletic and be able to cover some of Ingram’s defensive problems.

This team would also potentially have some superfluous parts that would allow them to make additional trades. If you like defense, this is one way to get it.
