This is an interesting choice and one you make if you are sneakily shopping Jrue Holiday.

Haliburton could be the best passer in this draft class and would immediately improve the Pelicans’ second unit. He would give the Pelicans potentially elite playmaking and a lot of possibilities for small ball.

This would allow the Pelicans to either re-sign Frank Jackson as a low-cost third point guard or let him walk. This team would have some interesting offensive potential but would seriously lack defense.

PG: Lonzo Ball/Tyrese Haliburton

SG: Jrue Holiday/Josh Hart/J.J. Redick

SF: Brandon Ingram

PF: Zion Williamson/Nicolo Melli

C: Jaxson Hayes/Free Agent

This team is thin at forward and at center, but you didn’t give up anything to get this pick, so there are still options. If Haliburton shows he can handle the load defensively, there might be additional trades to be made using Lonzo Ball as bait to get a haul.

This is an unlikely choice for the Pelicans, but an interesting one that could open a whole lot of future moves.
