Be the GM: New Orleans Pelicans select Saddiq Bey with the 13th pick

Saddiq Bey

You’ve gone with one of the consensus picks for the New Orleans Pelicans in the NBA Draft.

Bey is the prototypical 3-and-D wing who has size and can shoot the 3-pointer.

He has good size for the position, comes from a school (Villanova) that preaches defense and he fills a big need for the Pelicans, which is to add size and depth on the wing.

He is potentially a guy who could back up Brandon Ingram or play with him in small-ball lineups with Zion at the five. Here is your rotation with Bey:

PG: Lonzo Ball

SG: Jrue Holiday/Josh Hart/ J.J. Redick

SF: Brandon Ingram/Saddiq Bey

PF: Zion Williamson/Nicolo Melli

C: Jaxson Hayes/Free Agent Center

This move would keep the Pelicans’ backcourt intact and add some depth at the wing. They would still need to add a center and backup point guard and wouldn’t have much money to play with.

Is Hayes ready to take over at center? Could the Pelicans find a point guard in free agency who can play?

This choice leaves a lot of question marks for the Pelicans but gives them a solid core of young talent.
